The Nettle Rug brings the tranquility of nature indoors. Crafted from hand-spun nettle, similar to vegetable silk, this hand-knotted rug offers a soft surface and 0.4-inch pile. This natural plant fiber offers subtle, tonal shifts across the rug creating movement and visual interest. Add a grounding, natural element to modern spaces through the Nettle Rug. Available in two sizes.
Nettle is grown mainly in the Himalayas, China, India and Burma. Despite its reputation as a weed, nettle has medicinal properties and is used as a textile fiber. Transforming the herb into thread involves a complicated firing process while mixing in ashes and spring water. The resulting softness and resistance is similar to vegetable silk.
Rugs from the Natural Collection are prepared using nanimarquina's Eco-wash process. The rugs are washed using Ecosheen, a biodegradable, chemical-free, multi-enzyme washing product. This naturally enhances the bright colors, shine and softness of each fabric.
