The Primitive Weave Collection was designed by Italian born Chiara Andreatti. The collection is a result of research into Moroccan Berber rugs, African symbolism and textiles designed at the Weimar School by female designers such as Agda Osterberg and Annie Albers. The collection combines a sophisticated mixture of Nepalese flatweave and a thick high pile. The effortless combination of cultures and knotting techniques make these rugs rich in texture, symbolism and aesthetics.
The inspiration came from classic berber rugs but re-interpreted with the addition of graphic elements inspired by geometry of the early 1900s. The combination of a kilim and a high pile height creating an unexpected three dimensional effect.
