Jewelled Lattice Runner

Designer: Luke Edward Hall

Pure wool jacquard rug with design inspired by 1920s illustrations of jewellery discovered by Luke in a museum's collection. "Our four Chateau Orlando rug designs for cc-tapis are not tied to a specific theme. Instead, I wanted to create a small collection comprising motifs that we love and incorporate into all of our collections: 1970s and '80s-inspired geometric patterns, stripes, flowers... As an artist and designer, I enjoy juxtaposing my painterly line drawings with bold, graphic patterns." – Luke Edward Hall To create these delicate and complex patterns, cc-tapis applies a jacquard weaving technique, a production method which has been used for over two centuries, primarily in the production of textiles. Very rarely used in the world of rug-making due to its complexity, the technique involves thousands of individual spools of yarn being connected to traditional horizontal Indian hand-looms. Made entirely by hand, every step of the traditional production process is followed in-house, from the dying of raw and natural materials, to weaving and finishings.
