Casellario Monocromo 2.0

Designer: Parisotto Formenton

The continuation of the design research that inspired the first rug designed by Parisotto + Formenton in 2014 was the foundation for the new Casellario Monocromo 2.0. The geometry of the rug, with highly contemporary lines, recalls the patterns of wooden or stone floors laid in a casellario or block form. The geometry of the design is disturbed by a few exceptions, some of the horizontal strips, each with varying size, have oblique cuts breaking the pattern of the rug. The rug plays on the apparent contradiction of one color. The fields of color are juxtaposed with different materials (Himalayan wool and pure silk) which give varying depths and tones of the same color, it’s read as a series of tone-on-tone nuances with contrasting levels of brilliance.
